By the end of May, we will be migrating to Wordpress from Blogspot. I've been hearing wonderful things about Wordpress and that it's a bit more user-friendly. After the mgiration we will begin posting the Christy's Trendsetter's interviews as well! Don't forget to congratulate the girls who are graduating this week/year.
Hope everyone is getting a little more settled after the tornadoes. If there is anything at all that we at Christy's can help you with, please let us know.
Thanks so much to everyone, and may God bless each and every one of you!!!

April 27, 2011
I've sat here for two days now wondering if I'll ever forget that date? Part of me wishes I could block it out of my mind and just pretend it never happened when the other part of my brain wants me to remember it every day and make sure I am thankful daily for everything and everyone in my life. All too quickly I learned what it could have been like to not have the store. Not have my family, my home, my vehicles, my life here on earth. What would it have been like to be in Heaven with the Father now? Amazing! But then I wouldn't get to see Taylor's graduation next month, anymore of Trey's ballgames, either of their weddings...so many other things. I am thankful it was my God's plan for me to leave this earth on April 27, 2011 and my heart break for the ones who were involved in God's plan.
A town I have spent the majority of my life in, is forever changed. Landmarks are gone. Businesses are gone. Schools and churches are gone. Homes are gone, and people are gone. All I have been able to think of is, "Lord, I will Praise You in This Storm!"
The decision to reopen the store today was not to make sales, it was to act as a drop-off center for needed supplies. People in our community, and others throughout our amazing state of Alabama, need the basic necessities of life: toilet paper, paper towels, liquid soap, hand sanitizer, baby wipes, diapers, underwear, clothes, toothpaste/toothbrushes, pet food, hairbrushes, Tylenol, etc. The things we don't even THINK about that we have, they need. They have nothing! A friend of mine, her father's home was blown away but his front porch and the clothes on his back. He was trapped for hours waiting on emergency crews to get to him. So he sat on his porch steps, all he had left, and waited. Can you imagine?
Please give of your time, your money, donate supplies to our town, our neighborhoods, and our people. We will keep this going until the last person is taken care of. Let's "Praise Him in This Storm" and not let the Evil-One win!!!

5 Spring "Must-Haves" from TLC's Style
This is an excerpt from the article I'm borrowing, hope you enjoy!
At the moment, accessories have our attention. Designers are showing a mix of soft and hard, big and small, and glamorous and minimalist. Here, five must-haves for the season, beginning with …
The Belt.

The Belt.
5: Wrap Belt
Actually, "wrap belt" doesn't begin to describe it, but it's technically accurate. Spring 2011 wants you wearing it at the waist, giving you an hourglass figure whether you've actually got one or not. Most popular in the spring collections:
Your choice! Use one to add interest to jeans, shape to a tunic, or to finish off a simple jersey mini dress with some oomph (and some color -- the brighter the better).
Next, it's not just for a bad hair day …

An elegant headscarf is an easy way to achieve starlet glamour.Head scarves accent spring lines, beautiful bohemian swaths of silk wrapped expertly to achieve a perfectly effortless, "I'm on holiday" look.
That effortless takes practice, but there's no time like the present -- so start wrapping. Prints are the way to go -- animal prints are still hot, but geometric, abstract and the ever-timeless watercolor florals are other irresistible options for the starlet-riding-in-convertible look.
Speaking of, you'll need her shades, too …

The Z Spoke for Zac Posen Spring 2011 show featured retro-styled shades in a candylike red.The spring 2011 runways were awash in eye-catching eyewear. There were plenty of options: not-your-grandmother's cat-eye glasses, all sparkly and beaded and big; retro '60s shades in white plastic; giant '70s frames, huge and tinted orange; and black-rimmed geek glasses taken up a couple of sizes to chic.
Don't shy away from color here, especially warm pastels like peach and lemon. They're everywhere in accessories.
In essence, choose statement shades. One pair will do. (Maybe two.)
Next, you'll need a new pair of shoes, obviously …

Strappy teal platforms take all eyes down to red-carpet level, fortunately a non-compete neutral in this case!Spring 2011 is somewhat channeling 2010 in structure. Platforms are a must: strappy, sporty, Oxford-y, or even "flat." This spring, though, you might want something, well, a little mixed up.
Combining textures, patterns, styles and materials is big. Look at mixed-media fabrics, varied snake prints, sporty white sneaker-types on a 4-inch heel, florals on a sculpted wood block, patent and flat leather crisscrossing straps, or desert-tone metallic suede, 2 inches tall from front to back (the platform "flat" -- easy walking).
You'll gain some height no matter what, so this could be the season you won't have to shorten your new pair of jeans (which, for all you non-size-zeroes out there, do not have to be skinny anymore!).
Finally, you may want to learn to travel light …
- Obi-style
- Adorned wrap belts, both narrow and wide
- Bohemian
- '70s-style
- Wide, supple leather that ties in a bow or a knot
Your choice! Use one to add interest to jeans, shape to a tunic, or to finish off a simple jersey mini dress with some oomph (and some color -- the brighter the better).

1: Itty Bitty Bag
Giant, leather hobos and structured Chanel and Hermes shoulder bags will never go out. This season, however, you may want to add something novel to your purse collection: a small one.
A very small one, actually. Tiny clutches, coin-purse-size shoulder bags, and hands-free, belt mounted wallets are a happy change from the usual, weekender-size lovelies, especially for a night out.
A beaded, metallic leather or neutral-standby purse-belt (that's what we'll call it) can be your very best friend at a spring concert or clubbing excursion.
Whichever way you go (not all of us get to have five "must-haves"), make sure it works with something covered in stripes. Stripes are absolutely everywhere.
Now you know Christy's has your "must-haves" or at least some of them! Come check out what's new for spring and summer this weekend!
Have a blessed Friday!

Suggestions needed!!!
Being new to the world of blogging, I need any and all suggestions and advice you all may have. Tell me tips and ticks, or links you have, for sprucing up our new blog---please! It would be appreciated more than you know! :) Plus we want to know what you want out of this blog. What would be most beneficial and informative, what do you NOT want to see, etc. This is a tool for us to use to better inform our customers of our merchandise, sales, events, employees and affiliates, fashion tips and trends and anything you want to know about.
We hope to add a section for prayer requests and praises too, as we at Christy's believe strongly in the power of prayer and know firsthand the proof of God's work. It's important to be sure and give thanks and praise to God for answering our prayers and for the blessings He gives us each day, as well as asking for help and forgiveness in our prayers.
Wishing everyone a blessed Wednesday. This is a tough week we know, getting back into the routine after Spring Break. Just nine more weeks until the end of the year, and that means 9 weeks until Taylor graduates from County High! Man time flies by!
